Alpena Magic

Alpena Magic (nicknamed Charlie) is the newest addition to the Ellis Park team. Charlie was scheduled to race at the age of 17 at Ellis Park on Wednesday July 11, 2007. Charlie had been away from the races for two years after his first retirement at the age of 15. However, retirement didn't suit Charlie, and he became depressed after his time away from the racetrack. Ron Geary, Owner and President of Ellis Park, purchased the horse and retired him as the "Official Equine Ambassador of Ellis Park." Charlie made his first public appearance in his new role on July 14, 2007 at the Early at Ellis program.
