The remainder of the initial $300 bankroll may be wagered on any race or combination of races included in the tournament The Ellis Park Juvenile Stakes and Ellis Park Debutante Stakes are mandatory or “must-bet” races. Optional races include Saratoga Races 4-7.
Entry in the 2018 National Horseplayers Championship in Las Vegas complete with airfare (capped at $500 roundtrip) and hotel accommodations will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th place finishers.
TOTAL PRIZE POOL DETERMINED BY TOTAL ENTRIES
Tournament participants must be 21 years of age or older. To qualify for a seat at the 2018 National Horseplayers Championship, awarded to the 1st -4th place finishers, contestants must have an active membership with the NHC prior to the beginning of the tournament. Visit www.ntra.com/nhc for membership information. Officers and employees of AmWest Entertainment, AmWager, NTRA, or Ellis Park and their immediate families are not eligible to participate. For the purposes of this tournament, immediate family will be defined as mother, father, spouse or children. If a contestant has ownership or interest in any horses running in any of the applicable tournament races, then all involvements must be fully disclosed to tournament officials prior to the start of the tournament.
ENTRY & FEES
The total cost of participation in the Bluegrass Tournament will be $500. There will be a maximum of TWO (2) entries per person. This is a “live money” tournament with a $200 entry fee and a $300 contestant bankroll. 100% of the $200 entry will be allocated to the prize pool for distribution among the top ten (10) finishers, according to the table above. The $300 bankroll will be loaded onto a wagering card and used by the contestant to make wagers into “live” pools for tournament purposes. The balance on the wagering card, the bankroll +/- the winnings/losses from the “live” tournament wagers, will be the property of the contestant at the conclusion of the tournament.
Entry in the Bluegrass Tournament will include access to seating in the Gardenia Room as well as a buffet-style meal.
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged to secure your tournament slot and avoid same-day registration lines. Participants may pre-register online by visiting www.amwager.com/bluegrasstournament. Once the online registration form has been completed, you must secure your tournament slot by submitting the total entry payment of $500 to Ellis Park by credit card or check.

Cash and credit card registrations will be accepted the day of the tournament, August 20, 2017 beginning at 10AM CT and ending at 11:50 AM CT. Contestants registering the day of the contest are strongly encouraged to arrive early.
The tournament will consist of “live” money wagers made through a contestant’s assigned wagering card.
Contestants will begin the tournament with their $300 bankroll which will be loaded on to their assigned wagering card.
Contestants must wager a minimum of $300 and may reinvest their winnings.
Tournament races will include all live races at Ellis Park on August 20, 2017, as well as Saratoga Races 4-7.
Permitted wagers will include Win, Place, Exacta and Daily Double. No other wager types will be permitted in this tournament.
Contestants must wager at least $20 on ten (10) of the available tournament races, eight (8) of which must be from Ellis Park. The Ellis Park Juvenile Stakes and Ellis Park Debutante Stakes will be mandatory or “must-wager” races. The remaining $100 of the initial $300 bankroll may be wagered on any race or combination of races available in the tournament. Any contestant who fails to meet these requirements will be disqualified.
To meet the criteria, a contestant could wager $30 on ten (10) different races (the Ellis Park Juvenile and Ellis Park Debutante Stakes would need to be two (2) of the ten (10) races), of which at least eight (8) races must be from Ellis Park.
A contestant could also meet the requirements by wagering $80 on the Ellis Park Juvenile Stakes, $60 on the Ellis Park Debutante Stakes, $20 on each of six (6) other races at Ellis Park, and $20 on each of two (2) optional races.
In each of these examples the contestant has made the minimum $300 in wagers while wagering at least $20 on ten (10) races, including the “must-wager” Ellis Park Juvenile and Ellis Park Debutante Stakes.
For tournament purposes, all winnings will be calculated before any applicable taxes.
Official track rules and regulations will apply to tournament wagers, as well as official track rulings.
WAGERING CARD & WAGERING PROCEDURES
Contestants will be assigned a wagering card which will be required to place all tournament wagers. A lost wagering card could result in disqualification.
Contestants will NOT be permitted to make additional deposits to their wagering card or withdraw funds from their wagering card prior to the conclusion of the tournament. Doing so will result in disqualification. Withdrawals from the wagering card will be permitted after the last race in the tournament is official.
Contestants must be present at the venue to participate in the Bluegrass Tournament. No person shall be permitted to act as a representative or agent and make wagers on the behalf of a contestant.
All tournament wagers will be placed through designated tournament self-betting terminals. It will be the sole responsibility of contestants to personally place their wagers and ensure their accuracy before leaving the self-betting terminal.
Official program numbers shall be used by contestants when placing wagers.
Horses grouped or coupled in an entry will be a single selection.
It is also the sole responsibility of contestants to ensure that their wagers are placed before wagering closes on their desired race. Tournament officials encourage contestants to place wagers early to avoid the possibility of being shut out of a race.
In the event of a scratch, after a wager has been placed, it is the contestant’s responsibility to change his or her selection before the start of the race.
It will be the responsibility of the contestant to ensure the above requirements are met.
HOW THE TOURNAMENT IS WON
The contestants with the largest bankrolls at the conclusion of the tournament will be declared the winners.
CASH PRIZES: 100% of each contestant’s $200 entry fee will be allocated to the tournament prize pool and distributed among the top ten (10) finishers, according to the table below. The final total of the prize pool is dependent on the total number of tournament entries.
NHC ENTRY PRIZES: Entry into the 2018 National Horseplayers Championship in Las Vegas, complete with airfare (capped at $500 roundtrip) and hotel accommodations will be awarded to the first, second, third, and fourth place finishers.

The final prize pool balance will only become official after the completion of a 48-hour audit period. Once the prize pool audit has been completed, the official standings will be posted on www.amwager.com/bluegrasstournament and winners will be notified by phone. Payment of cash prizes may take up to two (2) weeks after the conclusion of the tournament and recipients will be required to submit a W-9 form for tax purposes.
In the event that a participant finishes in a position that receives an entry into the 2018 NHC in Las Vegas, and that participant has already qualified for the maximum number of entries in the 2018 NHC prior to August 20, 2017, the NHC entry will be awarded to the contestant finishing in the next-best position who has not yet received an entry into the 2018 NHC from the Bluegrass Tournament. The allocation of the prize pool will remain the same in this event.
Contestants will be eligible to win one (1) entry to the NHC in Las Vegas from the Bluegrass Tournament. In the event a contestant has made two entries into the Bluegrass Tournament and finishes in two positions that receive a 2018 NHC entry, the second NHC entry will be awarded to the contestant finishing in the next-best position who has not yet received an entry into the 2018 NHC from the Bluegrass Tournament.
In the event of a tie for any place 1st-10th, the contestant who has picked the most winners in the tournament will be awarded the greater standing. In the event a tie still exists, the contestant who has picked the most winners at Ellis Park will be awarded the greater standing. If the tie still exists, the contestant who registered for the Bluegrass Tournament first will be awarded the greater standing.
ODDS OF WINNING
This is a game of skill, and the odds of winning will depend upon the number of entries and their skills.
DISQUALIFICATION FOR UNSPORTSMANLIKE BEHAVIOR AND/OR RULE VIOLATION
Bluegrass Tournament officials, at their sole discretion, reserve the right to disqualify any contestant believed to be tampering with, or attempting to tamper with, the betting process and/or operation of the tournament; any contestant it believes to be in violation of the Official Rules; any contestant acting in an unsportsmanlike manner or with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, coerce or harass any other person; or any contestant believed to have influenced, or attempted to influence the play of other contestants, whether through potential bonuses, incentives or otherwise.
Bluegrass Tournament officials will make the decision on disqualification, with all decisions being final. In the event of disqualification, any funds that remain on the wagering card as part of the contestant’s bankroll remains the property of the contestant, however, the entry fee will be forfeited.
Bluegrass Tournament officials are not responsible for lost, interrupted, incomplete, inaccurate or incorrect capture of betting information or for computer, telephone, cable, network, electronic or Internet hardware or software malfunctions, failures, connections, jumbled transmissions, service provider accessibility or availability, or unauthorized human intervention.
All trademarks used in connection with this tournament, and the promotion thereof, are the property of their respective trademark owners and are used for identification purposes only.
By participating, the contestant agrees to be bound by the terms of these Official Rules.
By participating, contestant agrees to the use of the contestant’s name, photograph, video, film, voice and likeness for the purpose of advertising and promotion in connection with the NHC, NTRA, Bluegrass Tournament, AmWest Entertainment, AmWager, Ellis Park, and other NHC partners and affiliates, without further compensation, except where prohibited.
The NHC, NTRA, AmWest Entertainment, AmWager, and Ellis Park make no representations or warranties in respect of any prizes and accepts no liability arising in respect of such prizes. All prizes must be accepted as awarded with no substitutions. By accepting a prize, the winner agrees to waive all recourse against the NHC, NTRA, AmWest Entertainment, AmWager, and/or Ellis Park and those associated with these organizations, relating to the winner’s participation in the Bluegrass Tournament, acceptance or use of the prize, including if the prize (or a component thereof) does not prove satisfactory, either in whole or in part.
By participating, the contestant agrees to release the NHC, NTRA, AmWest Entertainment, AmWager, Ellis Park and their partners, contractors and affiliates, and the directors, employees and agents of each, from any liability, loss or damage incurred by the use, misuse or acceptance of the prize.
Contestants are responsible for their share of federal, state and/or local taxes associated with any prizes won at the Bluegrass Tournament.
Bluegrass Tournament officials reserve the right to cancel or modify the Bluegrass Tournament and/or the Official Rules without notice.
If for any reason, there is a cancellation in racing on Sunday August 20, 2017 at Ellis Park or optional tracks, the tournament will be based on the races completed. If the cancelation takes place prior to the first race at Ellis Park, the tournament will be cancelled and all entry fees will be refunded. Bluegrass Tournament officials will make an announcement and all decisions are final.
In the event of inconsistency between these Official Rules and any other document provided in connection with the Bluegrass Tournament, the terms of these Official Rules shall be controlling.
Affidavits confirming compliance with all the rules of this tournament will be required of all participants. Contestants acknowledge that if they enter this tournament under a fraudulent name and/or Social Security number, they will be immediately disqualified. Positive identification is required of all prize winners. Positive identification is a valid Driver’s License, Passport, or State Identification card with a picture and the same address and birth date used on the entry form, and/or such other form of identification as deemed adequate by Bluegrass Tournament officials. Social Security information is also the responsibility of the contestant. Social Security information must be provided before the contestant receives his or her wagering card.
Information submitted on the Registration Form and any information provided in connection with the Bluegrass Tournament may be retained by the NHC, NTRA, AmWest Entertainment, AmWager, and Ellis Park and may be used for marketing, research or other commercial and non-commercial purposes. In addition, the NHC, NTRA, AmWest Entertainment, AmWager, Ellis Park and their partners and affiliates may send each contestant promotions or announcements unless the contestant specifically opts out during the registration process. Information regarding the contestants may be provided to any entity organizing the tournament.
Bluegrass Tournament officials, reserve the right to interpret all disputes, questions and conditions regarding this event, without claim for damages or recourse of any kind. Bluegrass Tournament officials will decide all disputes, questions and definitions not explicitly covered in the Official Rules, with all decisions being final.
