Race 1: Giro Kate is going to be tough to beat. She is a versatile sort that is a good spot today to remain undefeated on the turf at Ellis. Now That’s a Benny will be a pace factor and has the back class to fit well here. Proudly Fought is in good form but will have to step up today facing open company.
Race 2: Free drops in class for the leading owner and trainer of this meeting and will be hard to beat. Skykat has drawn the fence and gets some class relief as well. The leading jockey, Bejarano, takes the mount and is the main threat to my top pick. Wises Landing is another dropping in class and is eligible to improve making his third start off of the layoff.
Race 3: Unfading Beauty is a six time winner that should get a solid pace to run at. Elle Z gets first Lasix and Leparoux retains the mount. She is worth a play at a potential price. Baby Karats ran a huge race in her turf debut and gets a break in weight with the bug boy.
Race 4: Bahama Mischief was well backed on debut and just ran out of ground when finishing second. She gets an extra quarter of a mile today to get home and rates a slight edge. Dream Quist is another that was heavily bet on debut and comes from a good barn. I look for a much better effort today while stretching out. Cuzzywuzzy should flash speed from the fence and may prove tough to run down.
Race 5: Honovi has earned almost a quarter million dollars on the turf. By Your Side has the pedigree to like the turf and adds blinkers this afternoon. Treasure Trove is entered as a main track only, and should this race be transferred to the dirt, he will be tough to beat.
Race 6: Molly’s Game is in good form and recently fired a bullet at the spectrum. She is the horse to beat. Grats Road will have a strong stretch kick and the potential early pace is to her advantage. Musabaqa is lightly raced but all she does is win.
Race 7: Beautiful Star basically lost all chance last out when eliminated at he break. She gets the top nod from me today. Torsie’s Charm is decently bred for the grass and has been training very well in preparation for her first out. I’ll Make it Coach has been unlucky out of the gate in both of her starts, but with a clean break, she is a definite threat.
Race 8 - The Good Lord Stakes:
Our featured stake event today is a very talented field of sprinters and Absolutely Aiden is my top pick. He is the speed of the speed and may be very hard to catch under the control of Landeros. Mucho ran out of racetrack last start when chasing my top pick. He gets an extra sixteenth today to wear him down and has the most consistent top beyers in here. Manny Wah exits two straight third place efforts against solid stakes company and fits very well.
Race 9: Hurricane Jake is an also-eligible, but if he draws in, he is easily my top pick. Money For Mischief broke his maiden against a solid field over the poly in Florence and has a big chance coming off the bench. Out Cold owns the pedigree to excel on the lawn. He stretches out to this route distance after two tighteners off the shelf.
