Stop Shoppin Tammy tried grass for the very first time in her most recent start on 7/19 here at Ellis Park and got a lot out of the raced when fourth of seven. Although she finished behind Edgee Angel and Teenage Kicks I think she can improve more than either of those. The breeding on this filly is fantastic for winning on turf as she’s a full sister to Tin Type Call who was a multiple stakes winner on the turf for the same owner and breeder which are more reasons to like her chances here.
Screenwriter rallied fast late but came up a neck short on the wire last time out on 7/19, the second time in a row she’s just missed. Actually it’s the fifth time she’s finished second in 16 races, winning just once, so she’s almost there a lot being a horse that closes from far back needs a lot of luck and a clean trip to win.
Mission From Elle, like Stop Shoppin Tammy, is bred to be a good one although she’s just 1 for 7 on turf. She’s a half-sister (same dam/mother) to a horse who earned over a half-million dollars and won five of 17 on turf including a few stakes. She hasn’t run to that breeding yet and in the race Screenwriter finished second in she had no late kick. Hernandez rides back so must think the filly has some talent and with an exceptional (best of 32 on the day) workout coming into the race she’s got a shot to run better than last out.
